New Blue Room at Antonio Presti's Atelier sul Mare Hotel

exhibition · 2026-05-05

A new room, 'Io sono il blu' (I Am the Blue), will be inaugurated on June 25 at the Atelier sul Mare hotel-museum in Castel di Tusa, Sicily. The hotel, opened in 1990 by Antonio Presti—creator of the Fiumara d'Arte open-air sculpture park—features 40 rooms, 20 of which were designed by contemporary artists, directors, and poets. The new room results from a long collaboration between Presti and writer Ottavio Cappellani, inspired by a text written 11 years ago during a protest where Presti symbolically closed Tano Festa's 'Finestra sul mare.' The room is described as a symbol of regeneration and resilience, with the text affixed to a wall and a new writing placed between the sheets of the bed. The inauguration is part of 'Il Rito della Luce,' an annual event during the summer solstice at the Pyramid of the 38th Parallel, the last work of Fiumara d'Arte, which is undergoing restoration. The spiritual journey to Mauro Staccioli's Pyramid began on June 21 and ends on June 26.
