New biennials open globally as Gwangju announces artist lineup

The global biennial landscape is set to grow with new events in China and France, while the historic Gwangju Biennale in South Korea announces its participants for the 11th edition. The inaugural MoCA Yinchuan Biennial, titled "For an Image, Faster Than Light," will debut in September, curated by Bose Krishnamachari, co-founder of the Kochi-Muziris Biennale. Notable artists include Ai Weiwei, Anish Kapoor, Santiago Sierra, Robert Montgomery, and Ivan Navarro. Additionally, the 6th edition of La Littorale, curated by Paul Ardenne, will take place in Anglet, France, from August 26 to November, addressing themes of borders and social spaces through large-scale works. Selected artists include Art nOmad, Conrad Bakker, and others. Meanwhile, the Gwangju Biennale, curated by Binna Choi and others, will open in September with the theme "The Eight Climate (What Does Art Do?)."
