New Art Books: Basilico, Lou Reed, Surface Theory, Design Monographs, Tintoretto

A selection of new art books includes a monumental catalog for Gabriele Basilico's exhibition 'Le mie città' at Palazzo Reale and Triennale Milano, published by Electa (2023, 416 pp., €50). Will Hermes' biography 'Lou Reed. Il re di New York' (minimum fax, 771 pp., €28) draws on archives from the New York Public Library. Gabriele Salvaterra's 'Sulla superficie' (Polistampa, 224 pp., €25) explores surface in contemporary art and culture. Two monographs on designers Audrey Large and Sigve Knutson, part of the IN Residence Design Residency #3: Metamorphosis Signals, are published by Quodlibet (each 144 pp., €18). Melania Mazzucco's 'Jacomo Tintoretto & i suoi figli' (Einaudi, 1016 pp., €48) is the first major biography of Tintoretto in Italy, based on over a decade of research in Venetian archives.
