New app Esplora Staccioli maps Mauro Staccioli's sculptures across Volterra and Val di Cecina
A new progressive web app, Esplora Staccioli, now allows users to discover the permanent outdoor sculptures of Mauro Staccioli (1937–2018) scattered across Volterra and the Val di Cecina. The app was developed by the Comune di Volterra with funding from the Camera di Commercio di Pisa as part of the Terre di Pisa territorial promotion project. It provides a georeferenced itinerary of the 10 sculptures that remain from a 2009 exhibition titled Luoghi d’esperienza, which originally featured 20 site-specific installations. Users can access information about the works, the surrounding landscape, and local tourist accommodations. The app also includes Staccioli's installations in Pisa and Pomarance. Content is provided by the Archivio Mauro Staccioli, and the initiative supports maintenance of the sculptures through a multi-year agreement with Associazione FotoImmagine Volterra. The app is available in Italian and English via a standard browser.
