Netflix releases trailer for Inventing Anna series on art scammer Anna Delvey
Netflix has unveiled a teaser for Inventing Anna, a Shonda Rhimes-produced series about scammer Anna Delvey, set to premiere on 11 February 2022. The show draws from Jessica Pressler's 2018 New York Magazine article detailing how Delvey, born Anna Sorokin in Moscow, impersonated a wealthy German socialite and collector to defraud New York's elite. Sorokin's scheme involved claiming to establish an arts foundation in Manhattan, targeting the art, fashion, and luxury sectors before her exposure in 2017. In 2019, she received a prison sentence of four to 12 years for stealing approximately $200,000 from hotels, banks, and restaurants, with the judge noting her 'labyrinthine lies.' Released on parole earlier this year, Sorokin now faces deportation to Germany. Julia Garner portrays Sorokin in the series, while Anna Chlumsky plays a journalist inspired by Pressler.
