Netflix Releases New Film Adaptation of D.H. Lawrence's Lady Chatterley's Lover

Netflix will release a new film adaptation of D.H. Lawrence's novel Lady Chatterley's Lover on December 2, 2022. Directed by Laure de Clermont-Tonnerre, the film stars Emma Corrin as Lady Constance Chatterley and Jack O'Connell as Oliver Mellors. The novel, first published in Florence in 1928, was long censored in Europe for its explicit sex scenes and themes of female rebellion. Le Monde ranks it 39th among the 100 best novels of the 20th century. The story follows Connie, who marries Sir Clifford Chatterley and becomes Lady Chatterley, but finds herself trapped after Clifford returns from WWI paralyzed. Her affair with gamekeeper Oliver Mellors leads to a sensual awakening and a difficult choice between love and societal expectations.
