Netflix Launches 'The Next Brilliant Career' for Australian Women and Non-Binary Writers

Netflix has teamed up with the screen agencies of Australian states and territories, along with the Australian Writers' Guild, to introduce 'The Next Brilliant Career.' This program seeks to uncover new talent among Australian women and non-binary scriptwriters. The launch aligns with Netflix's adaptation of Miles Franklin's 'My Brilliant Career,' which will be available for streaming starting 13 August. Original, authentically Australian scripted ideas are being accepted, with shortlisted candidates scheduled to pitch live in Sydney on 6 October. One finalist will be selected from each state and territory. Applicants must have 1-3 reportable writing credits on projects longer than 10 minutes, while full-time students are not eligible. Writers will maintain ownership of their ideas, and applications are to be made via the respective state screen agencies. Amanda Duthie emphasized the initiative's goal of embracing daring Australian voices.
