Netflix Italy Unveils Winter 2023/24 Slate with Four New Productions

Netflix Italy presented its upcoming winter 2023/24 lineup at the See What's Next event, featuring four new original productions: two films and two series. The films are 'Il treno dei bambini' (directed by Cristina Comencini, based on Viola Ardone's bestseller) and 'Fabbricante di lacrime' (directed by Alessandro Genovesi, based on Erin Doom's novel, the best-selling book in Italy in 2022). The series are 'Storia della mia famiglia' (directed by Claudio Cupellini) and 'Adorazione' (directed by Stefano Mordini, based on Alice Urciuolo's novel). Tinny Andreatta, Vice President of Italian Content at Netflix, stated the company continues to invest in Italy and Italian stories with conviction, consolidating long-term commitment. The productions are described as authentic, courageous, and unique, tackling controversial topics and challenging taboos. Additionally, returning series include 'Tutto chiede salvezza 2', 'La legge di Lidia Poët 2', and the reboot 'Suburræterna'. Other upcoming titles feature complex heroines ('Briganti', 'Inganno', 'Sara'), contemporary family narratives ('La Vita che Volevi'), historical fiction ('Il Gattopardo'), portraits of transgressive figures ('Supersex', 'Vasco: Il Supervissuto'), and love stories ('Nuovo Olimpo', premiering at the 18th Rome Film Festival). Production companies involved include Palomar, Cattleya, The Apartment, and Groenlandia.
