Netflix Italy launches month-long collection celebrating Italian cinema for Made in Italy Day
For the second edition of Italy's National Made in Italy Day on April 15, promoted by the Ministry of Enterprises and Made in Italy, Netflix Italy launched a curated collection titled 'Il grande cinema Made in Italy,' available until May 15. The selection honors films that shaped Italian culture and identity. For the first time on Netflix, three restored masterpieces by Roberto Rossellini are featured: 'Rome Open City' (1945), celebrating its 80th anniversary; 'Paisà' (1946); and 'Germany Year Zero' (1948). Also debuting on the platform is Federico Fellini's '8½' (1963), alongside his 'La Dolce Vita' (1960). Other classics include Luchino Visconti's 'The Leopard' (1963) and Sergio Leone's 'A Fistful of Dollars' (1964). Contemporary films range from comedies by Massimo Troisi and Roberto Benigni to Paolo Sorrentino's Oscar-winning 'The Great Beauty' (2013) and 'The Hand of God' (2021). Tinny Andreatta, Netflix's VP of Italian content, stated the company is pleased to celebrate Italian cinema excellence with a diverse, high-quality selection. The initiative underscores Netflix's ongoing commitment to promoting Italian culture since establishing a permanent base in Italy.
