Nesxt Festival Returns to Turin with New Diffuse Format
The second edition of Nesxt, the festival of independent spaces in Turin, will take place from October 26 to November 5, 2017. Artistic director Olga Gambari announced a new concept: a diffuse festival involving Residents (local artistic and cultural entities such as galleries, theaters, bookshops, temporary spaces, and workshops) and Guests (mainly national, with two international presences from Mexico and Berlin). The festival aims to act as a glue for the various fairs and to tell the story of Turin's territory. About forty entities will participate, featuring exhibition projects alongside live performances, performances, and talks. A talk organized in collaboration with Artissima will address the theme "Indipendenti da chi e da che cosa?" (Independent from whom and what?). Three prizes have been introduced: The Independent-MAXXI, which will identify an independent group to present at The Independent-Wall at MAXXI in spring 2018; the Artribune prize, which will select an independent space for the Focus column in issue No. 41 (January/February 2018); and the Autofocus#9 performance prize in collaboration with Vanni Occhiali, which will present the 2017 winning project by Camilla Soave and Beatriz Bizarro during the festival.
