Nest Examines Leisure and Inequality in Summer Exhibition
Nest in The Hague presents 'Out of Office (Still Here),' an exhibition exploring the concept of leisure during the summer holidays. The show opens during the long summer break, targeting those who remain in the city rather than traveling. It examines how leisure is shaped by access and inequality, focusing on local spaces like neighborhoods, parks, and the beach as sites of encounter and social dynamics. The exhibition challenges the ideal of the holiday by contrasting escape with realities such as unequal access to sport and climate impact from tourism. A public program for all ages transforms Nest into a space for meeting, play, and critical reflection. A companion publication, 'Nesting Habits #2,' includes a text by writer Rasit Elibol and summer-inspired prompts and puzzles linked to the artworks.
