NeSpoon's Largest Lace Mural Wraps Maison Pic in Valence

Polish street artist NeSpoon has completed her largest mural to date, a 1,000-square-metre lace pattern spanning ten façades of Maison Pic in Valence, France. The design is based on a historic lace from Craponne-sur-Arzon, preserved at the Musée des Manufactures de Dentelles in Retournac, chosen for its connection to the era when Anne-Sophie Pic's great-grandmother helped establish the family restaurant. Commissioned by Anne-Sophie Pic and David Sinapian, the project was produced by Julien de Casabianca's Mutt Prod, with coordination by Johanna Quillet and assistance from Jérôme "Jerc" Lansade. NeSpoon's practice since 2009 has focused on translating lace patterns into public art, elevating traditionally domestic female craft to monumental scale. The mural's white ornament on black and deep-red walls integrates windows, rooflines and chimneys, appearing to grow through the architecture. Maison Pic, a five-star hotel and three-Michelin-starred restaurant, has a culinary history dating to 1889. Anne-Sophie Pic regained three stars in 2007 and is one of few women to hold Michelin's highest distinction. The work continues a public art programme at the site, following Julien de Casabianca's Outings Project in 2024.
