NERO Publishing Launches Not, a New Fiction Line

Starting January 2018, NERO Publishing, the Roman publisher behind the contemporary art magazine NERO and known for art books and catalogs, introduced Not, a new series of fiction books translated into Italian. The line will release twelve titles annually on a strict schedule. The first three announced are Mark Fisher's Capitalist Realism (January 24), AA.VV.'s The Visionaries edited by Ann and Jeff VanderMeer (February 14), and Nick Srnicek & Alex Williams' Inventing the Future (March 7). Future authors include Donna Haraway, Timothy Morton, Bifo, Alexandre Laumonier, and John Higgs. Not aims to foster debate on pressing contemporary issues such as the Anthropocene, technological singularity, aesthetics, human-machine relations, automation, and accelerationism, drawing from philosophy, visual arts, science fiction, pop culture, politics, and economics. The books are designed to be engaging, coherent, and visually appealing. NERO also plans to launch an English-language online platform at neroeditions.com. A promotional tour for the new line is underway in major Italian cities including Bologna, Florence, and Milan, where the first three titles are available for early purchase. NERO Publishing was founded in 2004 by Francesco de Figueiredo, Luca Lo Pinto, Valerio Mannucci, and Lorenzo Micheli Gigotti, initially as a free contemporary art magazine, expanding into catalogs and artist editions since 2007.
