NEON's 'space of togetherness' exhibition in Athens explores belonging through 20 international artists

NEON's exhibition 'space of togetherness' at the Drama School of the National Theatre of Greece in Athens runs until 20 October, curated by Elina Kountouri. Featuring 20 living artists and collectives from 13 countries, the show addresses historical narratives, contemporary injustices, and future belonging. Works include Kostas Roussakis's 27-meter table 'Hell' with a poem by Nikos Karouzos, Mona Hatoum's 'Doormat II' and 'Baluchi (red)', and Taysir Batniji's 'Delayed Reality'. Marianna Christofides presents the sound installation 'Restor(y)ing Waters' with voices from the Melissa Network and Savina Yannatou. The Afro-Greeks project by Døcumatism includes videos and an archive on the African Diaspora in Greece. Bouchra Khalili shows 'The Circle' and 'The Storytellers' on the Arab Workers' Movement. The exhibition integrates the drama school's activities and a public program, emphasizing movement and cultural interaction as a 'space of flows'. Kountouri notes it focuses on the human condition and caring, not border debates. Grace Chimela Eze Nwoke highlights its political dimension regarding migration policy. Artists engage themes of race, politics, rights, and media representation to reimagine solidarity.
