Némo Biennale's Second Episode Explores Posthuman Futures at Centquatre

The second episode of the exhibition 'Jusqu’ici tout va bien ? Archéologies d’un monde numérique' opened at Centquatre in Paris as part of the Némo digital arts biennale, running until February 9, 2020. Curated by Gilles Alvarez, founder of Némo, and José-Manuel Gonçalvès, director of Centquatre, the show expands on the theme of a posthuman future. New installations include Magali Daniaux & Cédric Pigot's 'Global Seed Vault' (2019), a virtual reality piece about the Svalbard Global Seed Vault; Hugo Arcier's 'Ghost City' (2016), a video exploring urban emptiness; Simon Christoph Krenn's 'Parasitic Endeavours' (2017), featuring distorted heads; Addie Wagenknecht's 'Optimization of Parenthood' (2012), showing a robot rocking a cradle; and Filipe Vilas-Boas's 'The Punishment' (2017), where a robot is forced to write 'I must not hurt humans'. The exhibition imagines a museum abandoned by humans but with machines still running.
