Nebraska Public Media Launches Dedicated Omaha Radio Station
On June 15, Nebraska Public Media will debut a new public radio station in Omaha, broadcasting on KOOO (101.9). Acquired from NRG Media in February, the station will offer a mix of NPR content, local news, and music designed for Omaha listeners. General Manager Stacey Decker described this launch as a long-held aspiration. The weekday schedule features NPR favorites such as "Morning Edition" and "All Things Considered," hosted by Dale Johnson and Grant Winterer. Starting at 7pm, the evening programming transitions to an adult album alternative format. Weekend highlights include "Flow Lab" with Phoenixx Carroll and "The Verge" with Genevieve Randall. Local news will be reported by Jessica Wade and Molly Ashford, while Fred Knapp and Noelle Annonen provide statewide coverage. The station's mission is to enhance the connection between Omaha and the rest of Nebraska via public media.
