Neapolitan gallerist Carlo Santamaria dies at 63

Carlo Santamaria, co-founder of the historic Raucci/Santamaria gallery in Naples, died on November 18 at age 63. Born in Naples in 1955, he ran the gallery with Umberto Raucci, dedicating his life to contemporary art and emerging talent. The gallery opened in 1992 on Piazza Santa Maria la Nova, quickly gaining international acclaim with 1993 solo shows by Maurizio Cattelan and Eva Marisaldi. It later moved to Corso Amedeo di Savoia in 2004. In 2016, a second location opened in Milan on via Francesco Redi. The funeral is scheduled for November 21 at 11 a.m. at Chiesa di San Pasquale a Chiaia in Naples.
