Nazzareno Guglielmi's Ceramic Challenge at Rocca Flea

At the Museo Civico Rocca Flea in Gualdo Tadino, Perugia, conceptual artist Nazzareno Guglielmi (born 1957 in Fabriano) presents 'La ceramica si rompe' (Ceramic Breaks), an exhibition that scatters ceramic plates throughout the labyrinthine rooms. The title, taken from a vintage design magazine cover used as a ready-made, asserts that it is not the plate that breaks but the time it contains, echoing the ancestral human desire to stop time. Guglielmi annually produces a series of ceramic plates following drying and firing schedules aligned with seasonal rhythms, making time itself an artistic material. The exhibition runs alongside 'Buongiorno ceramica', a festival in the Umbrian town that links local ceramic excellence with conceptual art, set in a medieval fortress. One of Guglielmi's works is currently featured in 'No, Neon, no cry' at MAMbo in Bologna.
