Nazli Madkour's Forty-Year Retrospective at Zamalek Art Gallery
Zamalek Art Gallery in Cairo is hosting 'Terra Cantus', a forty-year retrospective of Egyptian artist Nazli Madkour. The monographic exhibition traces the self-taught artist's evolution from figurative representation to abstraction and a synthesis of both. Despite radical technical changes, continuities persist: early works featuring desert scenes, oases, women, nature, foliage, dunes, mountains, rock formations, and architecture reappear in later pieces. For over eight years, Madkour traveled extensively across Egypt, drawing and painting on location, focusing on color, line, textures, and forms.
