National Gallery Singapore Partners with Fei Yue for NEET Youth Art Programme

institutional · 2026-05-21

National Gallery Singapore collaborated with social service agency Fei Yue Community Services to adapt its Strength Through Art (stART) programme for NEET youth (Not in Education, Employment, or Training). The partnership began in 2024 after Mian Tze Kng, Assistant Director of Outreach and Engagement, met Zoe Tee, Deputy Head of Youth Department at Fei Yue, at a conference. The adapted programme, titled "Start Here From Every Vantage Point," used polymer clay as a primary medium and prioritized process over output. After ten sessions, an exhibition opened on 9 January 2026 as part of the Gallery's Light To Night festival. One participant, socially isolated for nearly three years, became an advocate, pitching the exhibition to media. The programme reframed NEET youth as individuals with agency rather than problems to be solved.
