National Gallery of Canada mounts major Helen McNicoll retrospective
The National Gallery of Canada (NGC) in Ottawa will host 'Helen McNicoll: An Impressionist Journey' from May 8 to October 12, 2026, the most comprehensive exhibition of the Canadian Impressionist's work in over a century. Curated by Katerina Atanassova, the show features more than 80 works, including over 20 premiering exclusively in Ottawa, spanning McNicoll's prolific decade from 1904 to 1915. The exhibition was created by the Musée national des beaux-arts du Québec and adapted by the NGC. McNicoll (1879–1915) is celebrated for her masterful use of light and colour in capturing intimate everyday moments.
