National Gallery London Opens First Major UK Zurbarán Retrospective

London's National Gallery has launched the UK's inaugural significant exhibition focused on the Spanish Baroque artist Francisco de Zurbarán, which will be on display from May 2 to August 23, 2026. The showcase includes nearly forty pieces from various collections, featuring works like 'Agnus Dei' and 'Christ Crucified with a Painter' from the Museo del Prado, as well as 'Santa Casilda' from the Thyssen. Notable international contributors include the Louvre and the Musée des Beaux-Arts de Lyon. The exhibition is organized into seven sections, highlighting Zurbarán's artistic style, his contributions to religious orders, and his 1634 commission for the Salón de los Reinos, concluding with works for private devotion. Following its London run, the exhibition will move to the Louvre and the Art Institute of Chicago.
