The National Gallery in London has secured £375 million in funding for Project Domani, which aims to create a new wing and public space, while also expanding its collection to include art from the 20th and 21st centuries. Notably, both the Julia Rausing Trust and the Crankstart Foundation have made unprecedented contributions of £150 million each, setting a record for individual donations to any museum or gallery globally. This donation from the Julia Rausing Trust is particularly significant; Hans Rausing, a founding trustee, mentioned that his late wife Julia was a passionate supporter of the Gallery.
