Nathan Orsman's Cinematic Garage Lighting in the Hamptons

Nathan Orsman, an Australian lighting designer and the mind behind Orsman Design in New York, has completed the Elle Mara Garage project in Sagaponack, New York. This exclusive home includes a garage and a basketball court that you can access through a wine cellar, both featuring striking resin-poured black walls and grey floors for a club-like atmosphere. The garage has a sunken section for seven cars, each lit by unique membrane panels that switch between warm and cool white. Ketra lights add artistic colors to the walls, while the resin floor reflects green and purple tones like a pond. The basketball court, even lower down, has sound-absorbing panels and custom lights from BlackLight. Orsman, who values the impact of light and negative space, will release his book, 'Light: Illuminated Interiors and Architecture,' on September 29, 2026. This 320-page work includes contributions from celebrities like Oprah and Tommy Hilfiger, and features collaborations with designers like Kelly Behun and Ashe Leandro.
