Natacha Ivanova's 'The Deer Hunter' Opens at Cueto Project, New York

From September 4 to October 18, 2008, Natacha Ivanova showcases 'The Deer Hunter' at Cueto Project in New York, two years following her 'Wonderland' exhibition in Paris. Drawing inspiration from Michael Cimino's film, the exhibition features large-format polyptychs such as 'The Game Room' (2008), merging Russian traditions with contemporary narratives. Ivanova incorporates elements from her late sister and delves into hunting themes, as seen in 'Saint-Hubert's Vision' (2007), where she is portrayed as a soldier. The display highlights her artistic technique, juxtaposing drips with precise brushwork and nods to Gustave Moreau. Additionally, over fifty faux nurses participated in 'Nurses' (2007), emphasizing anonymity and societal roles while reassessing the connection between form and symbol.
