NASA Releases 12,000 Unseen Photos from Artemis II Mission

other · 2026-05-04

NASA has unveiled a collection of 12,000 images from the Artemis II mission, marking humanity's return to the Moon's vicinity for the first time since the 1970s and achieving a record for the farthest distance from Earth. Captured by the crew—Commander Reid Wiseman, Pilot Victor Glover, Mission Specialist Christina Koch, and Mission Specialist Jeremy Hansen—these photos were taken with Nikon D5 SLR, Nikon Z9 mirrorless, and iPhone 17 cameras. While some images are blurry or duplicates, there are unique treasures among them. Highlights include stunning shots of a solar eclipse, detailed views of the Moon, and 'Earthset' photos. The images can be accessed on NASA's Gateway to Astronaut Photography of Earth website.
