Narènte's 'Corpo Erede' reimagines Sardinian craft as archetypal narrative

publication · 2026-04-26

The visual duo Narènte, composed of Franco Erre and Lucio Aru, created 'Corpo Erede', a five-minute micro-film for Craft – Sardegna Ricerche. The work transforms Sardinia's material heritage into an archetypal, choral portrait, avoiding documentary conventions. No didactic voiceover or illustrative sequences are used; instead, the narrative unfolds through symbolic bodies, totemic locations, and a visual score that rejects linear description. The film is structured in four acts with overlapping narrators in the epilogue, adopting a theatrical mise-en-scène. Narènte conceived archetypal characters inhabiting natural sets, focusing on the dual function of 'body' as both medium and physical object of the artifact. Craft – Sardegna Ricerche helped select artisan excellences without emphasizing individual recognizability, aiming for symbolic representation. The duo's approach involves filtering the artisan world through their established visual language while allowing the project to enter their own universe. Narènte sees their work as building an atlas of contemporary Sardinia, connecting the island to other places and contaminating it with external experiences. They are currently focused on reinterpretation, amplification, and internationalization, creating a new imaginary. The film premiered editorially on Artribune.
