Napoli Comicon 2017 Celebrates Dylan Dog's 30th Anniversary
Napoli Comicon, one of Europe's leading international comics and entertainment festivals, dedicated its 19th edition to the 30th anniversary of Dylan Dog, the iconic character created by Tiziano Sclavi in 1986. The festival appointed Roberto Recchioni, writer, screenwriter, and editorial curator of the popular comic series published by Sergio Bonelli Editore, as Magister. Recchioni's role was to represent the festival's main theme: the relationship between comics and the web. He curated a personal exhibition titled "Un Asso nella Rete" and oversaw a series of shows exploring the web's impact on comic production and promotion. Featured artists included Sio, Zerocalcare, Eriadan, and international web comic creators like Sarah Andersen, known for "Sarah's Scribbles" on platforms such as Tumblr, Facebook, and Instagram. Other exhibitions included "77 – Anno Cannibale" at PAN – Palazzo delle Arti di Napoli, running until May 14, celebrating the 40th anniversary of the year of protest; and "25 anni di Image Comics," honoring the publisher that, alongside Dark Horse and IDW, is a major force in US comics and recently reached 25 years of activity. The festival also featured "Dylan Dog Experience 2.0," a performative exhibition dedicated to the 30th anniversary of the character, offering an immersive adventure with new settings. This followed the success of the first edition at Lucca Comics & Games, which attracted over 8,000 visitors in five days.
