cultural-heritage · 2026-04-27

Naples is set to host a UNESCO summit from November 27 to 29, 2023, bringing together 194 national delegations to discuss the safeguarding of World Heritage. This event marks the 50th anniversary of the 1972 Convention and the 20th anniversary of the 2003 Convention. Organized by Italy’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ministry of Culture, and the Municipality of Naples, with a budget of half a million euros, the summit aims to reinforce Italy's role in heritage conservation, particularly in the restoration of war-affected architectural sites in Ukraine. The Royal Palace will serve as the venue, featuring seven thematic sessions covering topics such as urbanization, overtourism, climate change, and art trafficking, all of which will be streamed live in Italian, English, and French.
