Naples Metro Line 6 opens with art stations by Boris Podrecca and Peter Kogler

architecture-design · 2026-04-26

In July 2024, Naples' Metro Line 6 officially commenced operations, linking Fuorigrotta (Mostra d'Oltremare station, where it connects with the Cumana railway) to Piazza Municipio (interchange with Line 1). This 5.5 km route includes eight stations: Mostra, Augusto, Lala, Mergellina (where it connects with Line 2), Arco Mirelli, San Pasquale, Chiaia, and Municipio. Mayor Gaetano Manfredi praised the line as a significant advancement in mobility. Additionally, it is part of the Stazioni dell'Arte initiative, which turns metro stations into artistic venues. San Pasquale station, created by Boris Podrecca, boasts a 100-meter-long design and features work from Peter Kogler. Webuild has constructed 14 metro stations in Naples and is currently developing Capodichino (Line 1) and Monte Sant'Angelo (Line 7, set to open in September).
