Nanni Valentini's 'Case sospese' at Monopoli Gallery, Milan
The exhibition 'Case sospese' at Monopoli Gallery in Milan presents a dozen works by Nanni Valentini (Pesaro, 1932 – Vimercate, 1985), primarily in terracotta, that abstract and recover the idea of dwelling and annunciation. The works were first shown in 1981 at his solo show 'Le case' at Galerie Babel, Heilbronn. In 1982, studies for four large houses appeared, seeds of future works. In 1983, 'Casa per Pierpaolo' emerged, and in May 1984, a solo exhibition on 'Case' was held at the Museu de Ceràmica in Barcelona. Of the four 1982 studies, two reached completed versions: the first was exhibited in January 1984 at his Milanese solo show at the PAC, and the second was shown in April 1987 at the Galleria Civica di Modena, after his death but fully realized in the studio. The exhibition is curated by Ginevra Bria, art critic and curator at Isisuf – International Institute for Futurism Studies in Milan.
