Nanda Vigo's heirs face public pressure over artist's studio and legacy

cultural-heritage · 2026-04-26

Allegra Ravizza, president of the Archivio Nanda Vigo, has sent a series of public letters to Pietro and Francesca Cadeo, the heirs of artist Nanda Vigo, demanding clarity on the fate of Vigo's home-studio in Milan. Ravizza distinguishes between patrimonial rights (held by the Cadeos) and moral rights (entrusted to the Archivio). She accuses the heirs of removing works from museums instead of extending loan agreements. The Archivio, founded on March 18, 2014, by Ravizza, Marco Meneguzzo, and Andrea Zacchetti, was tasked by Vigo before her death on May 16, 2020, to preserve and promote her work. The letters, dated November 15, 2024, and January 16, 2025, remain unanswered. Ravizza publicly asks the Cadeos to reveal the current state of the home-studio and their plans, noting Vigo wished it to become a museum. The studio was a hub for European avant-garde artists and a testament to Vigo's artistic vision.
