Nanda Vigo inaugurates Studio Visit at MAXXI with Arch/arcology
Nanda Vigo (Milan, 1936), a key figure in 20th-century architecture and design, launched the new Studio Visit program at MAXXI in Rome with her exhibition Arch/arcology, curated by Domitilla Dardi. The initiative, part of the renewed Progetto Alcantara–MAXXI, invites established designers to create a space within the museum inspired by a work from the permanent collection. Vigo focused on projects by Paolo Soleri (Turin, 1919 – Cosanti, 2013) from the MAXXI Architecture collection, building an immersive room clad in Alcantara with three walls displaying three-dimensional developments of Soleri's unbuilt plans. At the center, she placed a sculpture representing Soleri's 1960s Single Cantilever bridge. The entire installation will enter the MAXXI Architecture permanent collection after the show.
