Namhee Park Appointed Director of Nam June Paik Art Center

Dr. Namhee Park began her tenure as director of the Nam June Paik Art Center on September 26, following an open selection process. She aims to transform the institution into a hyper-connected social platform and public forum that advances research at the intersection of art and technology. Park envisions creating a heritage community dedicated to preserving Paik's legacy while promoting world peace, reflecting the artist's own humanitarian spirit. In a statement, she expressed her commitment to building an open and inclusive institution that mirrors Paik's visionary approach to humanity's technological future. Park brings extensive experience from South Korea's art scene, including curating the 3rd Jeju Biennale in 2022. Her previous roles include serving as head of exhibitions at the Asia Culture Center's ACT Festival from 2018 to 2019 and directing the education department at Gwangju's ACC Asia Culture Institute between 2016 and 2020. She earned her PhD in art studies from Hongik University, where she currently works as a visiting professor in the Graduate School of Visual Communication. Park also taught as an adjunct professor at Seoul National University of Science and Technology from 1998 to 2005.
