Nadia Lauro's 'Clairière' and the Nouveau Festival at Centre Pompidou

festival-fair · 2026-04-24

The Nouveau Festival took place at the Centre Pompidou in Paris from February 20 to March 11, 2013, under the direction of Bernard Blistène. This event turned the south gallery into a 'laboratory of imaginary languages' showcasing the works of Antonin Artaud, Isidore Isou, Tristan Garcia, Georges Aperghis, Sigur Rós, and Magma. Nadia Lauro's installation, 'Clairière,' offered an immersive experience with paper strips, allowing visitors to listen to texts by William Burroughs, Olivier Cadiot, Hugo Ball, and Henri Chopin. The festival featured daily readings, concerts, and performances, including a script reading by Sophie Laly and a concert by Beau Catcheur. Fanny de Chaillé's 'Je suis un metteur en scène japonais' blended Thomas Bernhard's writing with Bunraku puppet theater, while additional exhibitions celebrated Richard Hollis, Pierre Faucheux, and Guy de Cointet.
