NADA Cancels New York Fair, Launches Gallery Open Alternative

festival-fair · 2026-05-04

The New Art Dealers Alliance (NADA) has canceled its 2019 New York edition, replacing it with the New York Gallery Open from March 4 to 10. Approximately 50 galleries will participate across the city, including permanent spaces like Company Gallery, Foxy Production, Derek Eller Gallery, and Simone Subal Gallery, as well as pop-ups hosted by out-of-town galleries such as Patron Gallery (Chicago) on Canal Street and Good Weather (North Little Rock) and Sans Titre (Paris) at Jack Barrett. NADA executive director Heather Hubbs stated that the shift allows the organization to focus on supporting member galleries' programs during Armory Show art week, noting that New York functions as a year-round art fair. The cancellation follows similar moves by PULSE and Moving Image, reflecting challenges for small and mid-sized galleries to afford fair participation. Participants will pay a small fee to cover administrative costs.
