Myrna Ayad Departs as Art Dubai Director After Two Years, Plans Art Consultancy
Myrna Ayad is leaving her role as director of Art Dubai to start her own art consultancy that will also include publishing. After two years in charge, she succeeded Antonia Carver, who is now with Art Jameel. Ayad significantly improved the Modern section, boosting public involvement and launching the Art Dubai Modern Symposium, which focuses on the lives and cultural roles of 20th-century artists from the region. Benedict Floyd, the CEO of Art Dubai Group, praised her vital role in the symposium's success. For the 2019 fair, Art Dubai plans to merge its Modern and Contemporary sections and introduce 'Bawwaba,' featuring artists from various regions. Details about her successor will be shared later this year. Prior to Art Dubai, Ayad was the editor-in-chief of Canvas magazine.
