Myriam Boulos's Debut Monograph 'What's Ours' Chronicles Lebanon's Revolution
Myriam Boulos, a Magnum nominee, has unveiled her first monograph titled 'What's Ours', which powerfully documents Lebanon's revolution, beginning with the 2019 protests against corruption and austerity and extending to the aftermath of the Beirut port explosion in August 2020. The book showcases intimate images of her friends and family amidst moments of joy and dissent, highlighting the body in public spaces as symbols of vulnerability and resistance. Boulos, born in Beirut in 1992, took up photography at sixteen to explore her city and society. The monograph, featuring 150 images over 216 pages, includes an essay by Mona Eltahawy, author of 'Headscarves and Hymens'. Boulos holds a master's in photography from the Lebanese Academy of Fine Arts and has exhibited globally, including at ICP New York and the Third Biennale of Arab World Photographers in Paris. She co-founded Al Hayya, a bilingual magazine for women, in 2020 and became a Magnum nominee in 2021.
