Myriam Ben Salah Named Director and Chief Curator of the Renaissance Society at University of Chicago
Myriam Ben Salah will begin her new position as director and chief curator at the Renaissance Society at the University of Chicago in mid-September. She succeeds Solveig Øvstebø, who held the role since 2013, making Ben Salah the third director since the organization’s inception in 1973. Hailing from Tunisia, she has previously managed special projects and public programs at Palais de Tokyo in Paris. Her curatorial background includes work with the Lazaar Foundation, Beirut Art Center, Kadist, and Kunsthalle Stavanger. Recently, she was a co-organizer for Made in LA. 2020 at both the Hammer Museum and The Huntington Library. James Rondeau, president and director of the Art Institute of Chicago, praised her for her unique vision and global experience.
