My Generation: Modena City Ramblers documentary on Sky Arte
The documentary series My Generation on Sky Arte continues with an episode dedicated to the Modena City Ramblers, airing Saturday 2 April. The band, active for thirty years in the Italian independent scene, is known for blending Irish folk sounds with political commitment, defining themselves as combat folk. Their debut album Riportando tutto a casa (1994) brought them national attention, followed by La grande famiglia (1996) and Terra e libertà (1997). The documentary reconstructs their history and stylistic evolution through interviews with journalists, photographers, record executives, and entertainment figures. Over time, the band incorporated punk, celtic rock, dub, and reggae, notably on Radio Rebelde (2002). Their latest studio album of new material is Mani come rami, ai piedi radici (2017), followed by the acoustic live album Riaccolti (2019), a tribute to the historic live album Raccolti (1998).
