Alex O'Connor created the packaging for Muted Char, a minimalist incense line, utilizing off-white paper, a dark matte tin, and a logotype that emphasizes weight contrast. The design features two typefaces that create visual tension: 'Muted' in a delicate italic above 'char' rendered in a bold condensed serif at three times the weight. The color scheme consists of warm cream (#E8E0D0) for the stick box and a deep brown-black (#2A1E17) for the metal cone tin. The stick packaging is designed as a tall pull-out drawer with sticks arranged to fan out from the top, while the cone tin showcases an embossed logotype on its lid. Product photography highlights organic textures like moss and bark, steering clear of typical studio white. The design consciously avoids spiritual clichés, focusing instead on material contrasts.
