Mute, Museo della Tradizione Enogastronomica Campana, Opens in Naples

cultural-heritage · 2026-04-27

The Mute (Museo della Tradizione Enogastronomica Campana) opens to the public on December 20 in Naples, at via Bracco 71. The project is the result of an idea and investment by entrepreneur Diego Minutaglio, in partnership with lawyer Luigi Galimberti and with support from the Regione Campania. The museum spans 1,000 square meters over three floors, with seven street-level windows. The ground floor is already operational, resembling a gastronomy shop with counters and lounges for tasting products such as sea sausages by chef Pasquale Palamaro, dairy and cured meats by Sabatino Cillo, bread by Carlo Di Cristo, pizza in the pan by Impasto Vivo, and fried cuoppi. Interior design is by Roberto Cremascoli of Cor Arquitectos, a student of Alvaro Siza; technology is by Brand Salad Studio, which provides slides and videos on bifacial monitors. The full installation will be completed by mid-2024. The lower levels will feature a recreated street theater with workshops (level -2) and a taste gallery for cooking events and educational labs (level -1). For the Christmas debut, Neapolitan artist Giotto Calendoli presents the exhibition 'Manodopera,' with installations and illustrations on Naples' visceral link to food, open free from December 20 to 24, 10 am to 6 pm. The museum also plans to include a tribute to Maradona.
