MusVerre in Sars-Poteries celebrates 10 years with 'Enchanté' exhibition
The MusVerre in Sars-Poteries, France, marks its tenth anniversary with a new exhibition titled 'Enchanté – La fabrique des histoires' (Enchanted – The Making of Stories), curated by Laura Bouvard, head of collections. The show draws inspiration from Alice in Wonderland, featuring a unique piece from the collection. It includes a melting clock by Dalí on loan from Daum, mirrors, a unicorn nest, and a bed of glass bubbles, creating a dreamlike atmosphere. The museum, housed since 2016 in a blue-tinted building with beveled lines contrasting with the landscape, originated from the passion of amateur collector Louis Mériaux. It holds over 800 contemporary works and some 3,000 ancient pottery pieces. Director Laetitia Messager, appointed about a year ago, aims to position the museum as a leading glass art venue. Key initiatives include collaborating with the Musée de Charleroi in Belgium, partnering with Cirva in Marseille for loans, and working with Frac Normandie, which has a notable glass collection. She also plans to involve universities through a symposium in autumn 2026. The museum is located in a village of 1,200 inhabitants with two glassworks offering demonstrations, and nearby is the écomusée de Trélon. The anniversary exhibition runs through 2026.
