Mustafa Sabbagh's 'Onore al Nero' Expands into Multi-Sensory Experience at Contemporary Cluster

exhibition · 2026-04-27

Contemporary Cluster in Rome presents the second iteration of a project that expands Mustafa Sabbagh's photographic series 'Onore al Nero' into a multi-sensory environment. The series, which celebrates black as depth and stratification, has been translated into music, design (seating and jewelry), and a perfume developed with a perfumer and three artists who also created the packaging. The project draws on the Futurist idea that artistic experience extends beyond traditional boundaries, aiming to engage multiple senses and create an environment that is not merely aesthetic. Sabbagh, born in Amman in 1961, explores black not as an end but as perpetual repetition of becoming, evoking vivid substances of memory, gravity, involvement, and sensual affliction. The exhibition runs at Contemporary Cluster in Rome.
