Musician Sachie Mikawa cancels Fringe shows after theft of father's trumpet
Sachie Mikawa, a 48-year-old musician from Japan, has called off her performances at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe following the theft of her trumpet and vintage melodica. The incident took place at the Rotunda Theatre in George Heriot's School on Monday, 10 August 2026, and also involved the theft of six laptops and an iPad, as reported to Police Scotland. This crime is believed to have occurred overnight into Tuesday, 11 August. Currently residing in London, Mikawa inherited the trumpet from her father, a Tōhoku earthquake and tsunami survivor, and has played it for 32 years, including during her debut clown performance in 2005. Heartbroken, she has canceled two shows while seeking a new beginning after her parents' passing.
