Music in Antiquity Exhibition at CaixaForum Madrid
CaixaForum Madrid hosts 'Music in Antiquity', an exhibition exploring the origins of music in Mediterranean civilizations. Organized by La Caixa Foundation with scientific support from the Louvre Museum, the show features 400 artifacts spanning from 2900 BCE to 395 CE, including instruments, inscribed tablets, and visual depictions of musicians. Eight curators from French institutions, including the Louvre, collaborated on the project, which originated from the 'Soundscapes and Urban Spaces in the Ancient Mediterranean' program. Highlights include a marble altar from the Capitoline Museums depicting a tibiae player, a bronze horn from Pompeii, and a gong from Herculaneum. The exhibition runs until September 16.
