MuseumWeek 2020: #Togetherness as Global Theme
The 2020 edition of MuseumWeek, a global digital cultural festival, is scheduled from May 11 to 17, with the overarching hashtag #Togetherness. Organizer Benjamin Benita of Culture For Causes Network explained that the theme was chosen before the pandemic but has gained renewed urgency as a call for global unity during the COVID-19 crisis. The event, which began in 2014 on Twitter and has expanded to Instagram, Snapchat, Weibo, and Vkontakte, will feature daily hashtags: #EroiMW (Heroes), #CulturainQuarantenaMW (Culture in Quarantine), #InsiemeMW (Together), #MomentialMuseoMW (Museum Moments), #AmbienteMW (Environment), #TecnologiaMW (Technology), and #SogniMW (Dreams). Participating museums worldwide will share videos, conferences, and other content via these hashtags. MuseumWeek is supported by UNESCO and Europa Nostra.
