institutional · 2026-04-20

The Museum of Contemporary Art Toronto Canada will launch on 2 May 2017, coinciding with Canada's 150th anniversary. Formerly called the Museum of Canadian Contemporary Art (MOCCA), it will occupy five floors within an industrial high-rise building in Toronto. An inaugural exhibition titled Odyssey 2040 is scheduled from May through August 2017. Three annual exhibitions are planned, supplemented by additional programming. The institution's collection will begin with works from the year 2000 onward, featuring internationally inclusive presentations. Inspired by the concept of the 'agora', the museum aims to foster public dialogue and idea exchange. A custom-built structure adding 23,000 square metres is slated for completion in 2020.
