Museum of Contemporary Art Skopje hosts 'Small Talk' exhibition exploring daily life through art

From April to June 2001, the Museum of Contemporary Art in Skopje, Macedonia, presented the group exhibition 'Small Talk,' curated by Luchezar Boyadijev. This exhibition examined the significance of ordinary interactions, such as complaints, gossip, and casual conversations, as a foundation for meaningful artistic endeavors. It showcased a variety of media, including installations, video, photography, and Internet projects, with a focus on affordable and adaptable works. Artists were chosen based on previous collaborations and were encouraged to engage in 'small talks' with visitors. The exhibition posited that everyday dialogues are crucial for artistic inquiry, underscoring the importance of the journey from idea to execution, while prioritizing relational dynamics over individual creation.
