Museum for Etruscan Bronzes to Open in San Casciano dei Bagni by 2026

cultural-heritage · 2026-04-26

A museum dedicated to Etruscan bronzes found in San Casciano dei Bagni, Tuscany, is set to open its doors by the end of 2026. These discoveries, made two years prior, comprise more than twenty bronze statues, five thousand coins, ex-votos, and various other artifacts. The museum will be located in the 16th-century Palazzo dell'Arcipretura, acquired for approximately 600,000 euros, with renovations scheduled to commence in autumn 2025. It will feature four levels: two dedicated to the sanctuary's excavation and reconstruction, while the other two will include a conference room, café, and bookshop. Additionally, a thermal archaeological park with over forty springs is in the works, backed by 4.5 million euros. Recent digs have uncovered the sanctuary's temenos and additional artifacts. Mayor Agnese Carletti is optimistic that the bronze serpent will accelerate the project.
